It is a non-profit cultural association, affiliated with ENDAS (National Democratic Body of Social Action), founded by Piero Vincenti in 1990 in Perugia with the main aim to promote musical language with particular attention to the young people, favouring a teaching and concert activity which sees them protagonists both as pupil-performers and as audience.
Among the several activities that the Academy promotes the most relevant and unique of its kind in Umbria (Italy) is the High School of Music.
The High School of Music has been offering Annual and Three-year International Courses of High Specialization for 18 years, mainly addressed to people who have already obtained a diploma of Conservatory or Officially recognized Musical Institute, held by national and world-famous concert artists and professors with the issue, at the end of the three years, of a Diploma of High Specialization; the courses aim to consent a greater widening of the study and repertoire of the instrument studied, helping from closer young musicians in their placement in the work environment and in the daily coexistence with the obstacles it involves.
In these terms orchestra and chamber concerts are constantly organized which see the best pupils that attend the High School of Music as protagonists.

In its ten-year teaching activity addressed both to the high perfecting and musical performance teachers of great renown have followed one another, who have represented a reliable point of reference in the survey of the annual perfecting courses and international stages.
During these years pupils coming from Italy, Europe, North America, South America, Asia have attended the courses of the High School.
The purpose of the International Academy of Music is also addressed to the advancement of young artists through the work of the Association NonSoloMusica which deals with concerts and events' organization.

The proposal does not stop to the High School of Music but it spreads to other important initiatives as:

The International Academy of Music has been publishing since 1994 "Accademia" a quarterly magazine of musical information in which, together with its activities, it collects articles and news from the international musical world.

Prestigious venue of the main activities proposed by the International Academy of Music is the town of Assisi.
